Staff Selection Commission has changed the exam pattern of Combined Graduate Level – SSC CGL for 2022 -2023 competitive examination. The new SSC CGL Exam pattern and syllabus notification PDF for download is provided at the end of this post. The Tier 1 exam will be qualifying nature. The major change is in Main Tier 2 exam. There will be no Tier 3 Exam. We will discuss the exam pattern of tier 1 and tier 2 one by one.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern
- Type of Questions : Objective
- Mode : Online in computer-based test mode.
- Negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
- Time duration : 2 hours.
- SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam will be of qualifying nature.

SSC CGL Tier 2 New Exam Pattern 2022
SSC CGL Tier-2 exam will be conducted in 3 phases- Paper 1, Paper 2, and Paper 3. Paper I (Compulsory for all posts), Paper II for candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO), and Paper III for candidates who apply for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
- SSC CGL Mains Exam 2022 will include conducting Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III in separate shift(s)/ day(s).
- Paper-I is compulsory for all the posts.
- Paper-II will be for only those candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and who are shortlisted in Tier-I for these Posts.
- Paper-III will be for only those candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-III i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
SSC CGL Tier 2 (Mains) Paper I Exam Pattern 2022 -2023
- SSC CGL Mains Paper-I is compulsory for all the posts.
- Tier -2 exam will consist objective type questions.
- Exam paper will be conducted online in computer-based test mode.
- Paper-I will be conducted in two sessions – Session I & Session II, on the same day.
- Total time duration for SSC CGL Tier 2 (Mains) Paper I is 2 hours and 30 minutes. (Session 1: 2 hours and 15 minutes and Session 2: 15 minutes)
- Number of Questions : 130 questions
- Maximum marks : 390 marks in Sections I & II.
- There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
- It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify for all the sections of Paper-I.

- Aspirants who have applied for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) have to appear for SSC CGL Mains Paper II.
- There will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
- Total time duration for paper 2 is 2 hours.

Data Entry Speed Test
Module II of Section III of Paper-I will include conducting a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) for a duration of 15 minutes in Session-II on the same day.
The “Data Entry Speed Test” (DEST) Skill Test will be conducted for a passage of about 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes.
DEST will be mandatory for all posts. however, it will be qualifying in nature.
