The Administrator of a Union Territory (UT) without a Legislative Assembly is appointed by the President of India under Article 239 of the Indian Constitution.

According to Article 239, every Union Territory is administered by the President through an Administrator appointed by him. The Administrator acts as the representative of the President.

1️⃣ UTs with Legislative Assembly

Some Union Territories have a Legislative Assembly:

• Delhi (National Capital Territory)

• Puducherry

• Jammu & Kashmir (after reorganisation, provision exists)

In these UTs, the head is called Lieutenant Governor (LG).
