Brief UPTET 2026 Exam Analysis & Difficulty Level

According to immediate feedback from students leaving the exam centers, the UPTET 2026 exam maintained a Moderate difficulty level overall.

  • Child Development & Pedagogy (CDP): Shifted slightly more toward conceptual application than direct factual definitions, though standard theorists (Piaget, Vygotsky, Kohlberg) featured heavily.
  • Mathematics & Science: Rated moderate to time-consuming, requiring clean calculations.
  • Environmental Studies (EVS): Featured a balanced mix of basic ecology, geography, and standard UP state-specific environmental facts.

Note on Marking: There is no negative marking in the UPTET exam. Each paper consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for a total of 150 marks, completed within a 150-minute window.

To clear the UPTET exam and earn a lifetime-valid certificate, candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks determined by the commission:

  • General Category: 60% (90 out of 150 Marks)
  • OBC / SC / ST / PwD / Freedom Fighter Dependents: 55% (82 out of 150 Marks)
