Distance and Direction Reasoning Concepts : दिशा परीक्षण :
Type of Questions:
- Distance from the starting point to the last point.
- Direction from the starting point to the last point.
- Direction of the starting point from the last point.
- Current Direction
इसके अन्तर्गत निम्न प्रकार के प्रश्न पूछे जाते है।
- प्रारंभिक बिन्दु से अंतिम बिन्दु की दूरी ज्ञात करना।
- प्रारंभिक बिन्दु से अंतिम बिन्दु की दिशा ज्ञात करना।
- अंतिम बिन्दु से प्रारंभिक बिन्दु की दिशा ज्ञात करना।
- वर्तमान की दिशा ज्ञात करना।
Important Facts
- Four directions – North, South, East, West.
- Direction is separated by 90 degrees
- दिशाएं चार होती है -उत्तर, दक्षिण, पूर्व, पश्चिम।
- इन दिशाओं को मूल दिशा कहा जाता है। दिशा अपने दायें या बाएँ आने वाली दिशाओं से 90 डिग्री के अंतर पर रहती है।
Draw the Direction on Map or Paper:

South : Down
West direction our left hand
East direction our Right Hand
Sub-Directions
There are four sub-directions:
- North-East / उत्तर, पूर्व
- North-West/ उत्तर-पश्चिम
- South-East / दक्षिण- पूर्व
- South-West/ दक्षिण-पश्चिम
Clock wise and Anti-clock wise turning
Clock Wise – Right hand Side
Anti-clock wise – Left hand side direction
If a person faces north and turns right then his face will be facing east, but if he turns left then his face will be in west direction.
यदि किसी व्यक्ति का मुँह उत्तर दिशा की ओर है और वह दायें घुमता है तो उसका मुँह पूर्व दिशा में हो जाएगा, किन्तु यदि वह बायें घुमता है तो उसका मुँह पश्चिम दिशा में हो जाएगा।
Pythagoras Theorem (पाइथागोरस प्रमेय )
Type 1: Turning in different direction (दिशायों में घूमना)
Example: One person face is toward North. From here he turns 100 degree Anti-clock wise and after that 145 degree Clock wise. Now his face is in which direction.
एक व्यक्ति का चेहरा उत्तर की ओर है। यहां से वह 100 डिग्री एंटी-क्लॉक वाइज और उसके बाद 145 डिग्री क्लॉक वाइज दिशा बदल जाता है। अब उनका चेहरा किस दिशा में है।
Solution: CW 145 – ACW 100 = 45 CW
45 degree clock wise from North, means North-East direction
Type 2: Change of Direction ( दिशायों का बदलना)
Type 3: Distance and Direction from Initial Point
A person went 15 KM in North direction. Then he turns left and walk for 10 KM. He again turn left and walk 5 KM distance. Then he turns toward East and walk 8 KM. After that he turns right and walk 10 KM. Now, what is his distance and direction from the initial point.
उत्तर दिशा में एक व्यक्ति 15 KM गया। फिर वह बाएं मुड़ता है और 10 KM तक चलता है। वह फिर से बाएं मुड़ता है और 5 KM की दूरी पर चलता है। फिर वह पूर्व की ओर मुड़ता है और 8 KM चलता है। उसके बाद वह दाएं मुड़ता है और 10 KM चलता है। अब, प्रारंभिक बिंदु से उसकी दूरी और दिशा क्या है।
The person start his journey from Point O and End at Point E. Now he is 2 KM in East direction from the initial point.
अब वह प्रारंभिक बिंदु से पूर्व दिशा में 2 KM है।
Type 4 : Calculate distance using Pythagoras Theorem
One person walk for 10 KM in North direction. Then he walk 6 KM toward South Direction. After that he turns in Right direction and walk for 3 KM. Now, what is his distance and direction from the initial point.
एक व्यक्ति उत्तर दिशा में 10 KM तक चलता है। फिर वह दक्षिण दिशा की ओर 6 KM पैदल चला। उसके बाद वह दाईं दिशा में मुड़ता है और 3 KM तक चलता है। अब, प्रारंभिक बिंदु से उसकी दूरी और दिशा क्या है।

Sunrise and Sunset directions Questions
At morning time after Sun arise, two friend Rajiv and Kamal are standing facing each other. If Kamal shadow is in the right side of Rajiv, then face of Kamal is in which direction.
सुबह सूरज निकलने के बाद, दो दोस्त राजीव और कमल एक दूसरे के आमने सामने खड़े होते हैं। यदि कमल की छाया राजीव के दाहिनी ओर है, तो कमल का मुख किस दिशा में है।
