b) Rs. 36,000

d) Rs. 160,000

Solutions

As per question
The salaries of Ravi and Sumit are in the ratio 4 : 5
Salaries are 4x \text{ and } 4y
Increased by 6000
New Salary: 4x+6000 \text{ and } 4y+6000
new ratio 35 : 40
\frac {4x + 6000}{5x + 6000} = \frac{35}{40}
175x + 210000 = 160x + 240000
175x – 160x = 240000 – 210000
15x = 30000
x = 2000
Sumit’s salary = 5 x 2000 = 10000
Sumit’s increased salary = 10000 + 6000 = 16000

Ans: c) Rs. 16,000
